Many people have strong opinions going either way but (my advice) look more toward the folks that had knowledge of that company since the beginning. Oddly enough, Darryl Bolke (thick like thieves) bought a couple of my rarer ones : / You will still find a small group of "Striderettes" that defend them.

I was an early supporter, but like many, the Stolen Valor issues were the end of it. I owned (and used) several of their blades from 1999 - 2004 but dumped them at no loss when this whole debacle started to unravel. Add to this an early partnership of sorts with SOE's founder John Willis back when they operated shops out of the Oceanside area, you get where this is going?! Both produced "altered" DD214's on forums and websites. Dwyer could never really show proof (or chose not to) to back up his S/S claims, fell back on the "My Classified Records are sealed" line numerous times. There were some glaringly outlandish claims! This can be found with some simple Google searching.

Mick was completely full of shit for the first 10 or so years of operation of Strider Knives about his Military service, now he is pretty silent about it. Their small yet rabid fanbase will buy them up.īoth the main operators of Strider, Mickey Ray Burger (Mick Strider) and Duane Dwyer, were outted years ago on a bunch of false Military Service claims. ↳ Suggestions, Questions, Comments, Concerns, Alerts, Etc.Echo what Oldsguy said.Knife Related Creation, Modification, And Restoration Forums.↳ Schatt & Morgan Knife Collector's Forum.↳ Robeson Cutlery Company Collector's Forum.↳ Great Eastern Cutlery (GEC) Collector's Forum.↳ Cattaraugus Cutlery Collector's Forum.↳ Canal Street Cutlery Collector's Forum.↳ Knife Lore - Traditional Knives From the Old Days.↳ AAPK Tips and Tricks - An Illustrated FAQ Forum on Steriods.I traded the PT-CC for a Strider SJ75s last year, because the SJ is a bit more to my liking while being similarly sized. This was all done for essentially the cost of postage, years after I had bought the knife, no questions asked. The guys at strider sent me back my knife with a new stop pin, new style pivot, new washers and a completely new blade (their excuse was they thought it was getting to thick at the edge with all the sharpening, so they just swapped it for me).

All it needed was a slightly larger stop pin. Future wear would have made the lock slip eventually). After dozens of sharpenings, breaking down thousands of boxes, and all manner of things one probably shouldn't use a knife for, I sent it back to strider because the lock bar, while still locking solidly, was hitting the G10 side (meaning it didn't have any more room to move. I carried a PT-CC for a couple years exclusively at work and put it through it's paces. That said, they are an awesome little knife. Virtually every single ebay strider is a fake these days. You need to know who you're buying from, because fakes are rampant. Looking at the secondary market is tricky. they make usually one "run" of a model for 6 months or so, then switch to a different model depending on demand) and it's been a few since the PT-CC had a turn, so everyone I would consider a reputable dealer (i.e. There was some internet misunderstanding that lead to alot of people thinking that the company was closing (it's not) and that Strider Knives would become rare (they're not) so the prices in the secondary market are really out of whack right now.

Right now is a really bad time to be looking for Striders.
